Maxima Missodey

is a PhD Candidate of the University of Ghana.

She stayed in Vienna from November 2017 to February 2018.

"It was a privilege to have been affiliated to the Department of African Studies as an Erasmus plus Exchange Student. Regardless of my late arrival, in the middle of the winter semester, the vibrant nature of the Institute offered me a unique experience as an exchange student. Not only did I get the opportunity to participate in some classes, I also attended seminars of students and visiting scholars as well as a book launch.

The highlight of my stay was the opportunity to present progress on my thesis at a specially organized colloquium by the department. The useful feedback I got from the colloquium served as an added boost in the writing of my thesis.

The opportunity to network through my interactions with other graduate students and faculty and my participation in the extra-curricular activities of the institute such as the Vienna African Writers Club meetings and the movie night organized for students of Swahili contributed in giving me an experience I consider holistic as a student of Sociology."
